In a partnership business the ratio of capitals of three men is 3 : 5 : 8 . The share of profit of the first member is Rs. 60 less then that of the third member, then what is the total profit in the business ?

solution :

∵ Capital ratio = 3 : 5 : 8

∴ Ratio of profit share = 3 : 5 : 8

Let total profit =  ₹ x

ATP,

⇒ [ { 3x / ( 3 + 5 + 8 ) } – 60 ] : { 3x / ( 3 + 5 + 8 ) } = 3 : 8

⇒ { ( 3x / 16 ) – 60 } : ( 3x / 16 ) = 3 : 8

⇒ { ( 3x – 960) / 16 } : ( 3x / 16 ) = 3 : 8

⇒ { ( 3x – 960) / 3x } = 3 / 8

⇒ 24x – 7680 = 9x

⇒ 24x – 9x = 7680

⇒ 15x = 7680

⇒ 15x = 7680 / 15

⇒ x = 516

∴ Total profit = ₹ 516
