In a partnership business the ratio of capitals of three men is 3 : 5 : 8 . The share of profit of the first member is Rs. 60 less then that of the third member, then what is the total profit in the business ?

solution :

∵ Capital ratio = 3 : 5 : 8

**∴** Ratio of profit share = 3 : 5 : 8

Let total profit = ₹ *x*

ATP,

**⇒** [ { 3*x* / ( 3 + 5 + 8 ) } – 60 ] : { 3*x* / ( 3 + 5 + 8 ) } = 3 : 8

**⇒** { ( 3*x* / 16 ) – 60 } : ( 3*x* / 16 ) = 3 : 8

** ⇒** { ( 3*x* – 960) / ~~16~~ } : ( 3*x* / ~~16~~ ) = 3 : 8

**⇒** { ( 3*x* – 960) / 3*x* } = 3 / 8

** ⇒** 24*x* – 7680 = 9*x*

** ⇒** 24*x* – 9*x* = 7680

** ⇒** 15*x* = 7680

** ⇒** 15*x* = 7680 / 15

** ⇒** *x* = 516
